Bubur Ayam Alfa in Jakarta

"Possibly the best chicken congee I’ve ever tasted. Although price is not cheap for a stall like this. Open only in the evening under a “tent” near Alfa (now Carrefour Express), several meters after Kedai Kita. 28k for 1 bowl of chicken congee 5k for “ati” satay (liver) Had to take it home instead of dining in because parking space for car is limited, but plenty for bikes/motorbikes."

"Enjoy 1 bowl of warm chicken porridge. Add half boiled egg to add more flavour. Its a porridge stall beside the road. Price for Indonesian porridge is quite expensive. You can order 1/2 portion if you think its too much. Open from around 6pm until 10pm everyday. Location right after alfamart - thats why they called it bubur ayam alfa."

"The bubur ayam is superb, large portion size, plenty of toppings, plenty of chickens, guaranteed satiety. Taste great.. but... Bloody but.. The place was horrible. I went there in the morning and the staffs didn't have the initiative to put down the stools from the table so we can sit there. No drinks were offered, they said the fridge was locked and the boss didn't give them the key. Everything except the bubur were horrible. Shudve been a 5 star street food experience."

"Occupying a corner in a small food court, this stall is definitely the crowd pleaser. It's certainly not the same as the typical congee you'd find in street hawker. Premiumly priced, but you get what you pay, an ultimate comfort food on steroid. The thick generous toppings, the sate selections, the half done eggs, the unlimited kerupuk. What can I say more."

"Huge service size and generous toppings, with free unlimited crackers and nuts on each table. Congee texture is not watery, even more “creamy” when you mix it with the half-boiled egg. Taste-wise it was great, but you can mix it up the way you want it to be with the soy sauce, chili, and pepper. A bit pricey though if compared to other congee places, 40k for the complete set (with half-boiled egg and 1 satay of your own choosing), especially considering the place is not that fancy—just decent, no air con, very limited parking space."
